What does self-hosted mean?

Self-hosted means Freehold CMS runs on compatible web hosting you control rather than inside a website service you rent.

Updated October 1, 2026

Freehold CMS is installed on a compatible hosting account or server that you choose. The CMS does not require you to rent the website platform from Freehold CMS.

You still pay your hosting company and any outside services you choose to use. Self-hosted also means you are responsible for backups, server access and keeping the installation maintained.
