Selling a ZIP is not the same as managing a software license.
Customers need a reliable download and a clear license record. The seller needs to know which product, customer and domain an activation belongs to. Product Licensing builds on Store so those records share the same product and customer foundation.
From protected product to customer activation
Configure the licensed Store product, verify protected delivery, define the license rules, test assignment and activation, then document what the customer can change or transfer. Use Payments only when checkout should occur on the website.
Why this works differently inside Freehold CMS
It extends Store rather than creating a separate customer, product or download system.
The module keeps its own records and validation while the rest of Freehold CMS supplies shared routing, themes, administration and other installed services. That keeps business data in the layer responsible for it instead of copying the same information into several places.

Software Licensing: $299 regular / $229 launch. Software Store with Payments: $359 regular / $279 launch.
Requires User Manager 2.5.4 and Store 2.3.3. Payments 2.4.3 is required only for supported hosted checkout.
Paid software is delivered under the product's published license, support and update terms. Compatible hosting and any third-party payment, email, storage or infrastructure charges remain separate.
