A recoverable backup needs the database and the matching public and private file trees.

Back up both halves
- Database: content, settings, users, orders and application records.
- Public files: Core, modules, themes and public assets.
- Private files: protected configuration, stored downloads and other non-public data used by the installation.
Keep the backup somewhere other than the directory you are changing.
