Why does Freehold CMS say a directory is not writable?
The web-server process cannot write to a directory that the feature needs for uploads, cache or protected storage.

Fix the exact directory, not the whole site
Check ownership and permissions on the path named by the readiness message. Grant only the access required by the web-server user.
Avoid broad world-writable permissions as a shortcut; they can turn a setup problem into a security problem.
